Kat is a Maryland Licensed Massage Therapist and Certified Manual Lymph Drainage Therapist, specializing in Oncology Massage. She is known for her especially soothing and gentle touch, bringing deeply therapeutic work to every body – including those with anxiety, depression, and chronic pain conditions such as fibromyalgia, Ehlers-Danlos, headaches/migraines, chronic fatigue, and symptoms/side effects of cancer and cancer treatment. She believes strongly that self-care is a necessity for health and wellness; no one can pour from an empty cup. Kat has additional training in Healing Touch and is a Reiki Master Teacher.

I am endorsed by the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists to practice as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Maryland. I earned my M.Ed. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, as well as my Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision, from Ohio University. I have been practicing for several years and have worked in college counseling and community mental health settings. New to private practice, I join Maitri Holistic Arts with hopes of helping others health through the power of connection.

In therapy, my goal is to help you tap into the resources that already exist within you. I believe you possess wisdom, resilience, sound judgment, compassion for yourself and others, and other strengths that can be refined or rediscovered through the process of therapy. I also believe that authentic human connection is the primary conduit of healing in therapy, so I strive to make our work relational – not just symptom focused. While I feel equipped to meet the needs of most people who seek my help, I find that I’m most energized when I’m working with someone who is open-minded, motivated, and invested in the therapy process.

Drawing from a variety of theoretical frameworks, I tailor my counseling approach to address your unique needs. I have had success with clients using aspects of REBT, CBT, Motivational Interviewing and other approaches. No matter what orientation I use, I’m guided by a spirit of collaboration, non-judgment, compassion, understanding, humor, and creativity.
